Music: People chatting in the computer lab
So I've realized that this blog has become increasingly boring. I figured I'd try to write something a LITTLE more interesting than "oh look! I crossed something off of my life to-do list!" On to your regularly scheduled program.
I volunteered to help out with the pharmacy school admissions process by being an ambassador. This means that while all the nervous lil' interviewees are waiting their turn, I just sit there and chat with them. Basically, I'm the buffer who keeps them company. All of the interviewees have name tags, so everytime someone walks in, I'd glance at the name tag and say hi. "Hi there, you're...Angela. How ya doin', Angela?"..."What's up, Mark?", etc. etc. During one of the rounds, this quiet Vietnamese guy walks in, and his name tag read: "Phuc".
I know this is a common Vietnamese name, but man oh man...I'm sure that made for a lot of awkward moments. And in my mind, I'm thinking "Holy crap, how am I going to deal with this one?"
So I'm going around the table and checking out everyone's name tags, making the rounds...
Me: "Hi Blake....hey there, and you are...Stephanie...what's up Stephanie? Hi Ph---umm....what's your name?"
Guy: "Oh, just call me John."
Awkward moment successfully evaded. Wahoo! And then we got into a conversation about his name (I asked about the correct Vietnamese pronounciation), his journey through applying to pharmacy school, all that jazz. And all was right in the world. :D

Life To-Do List update: I get to cross off "visit a place that is reported to be haunted and see if anything actually happens".
I visited the supposedly "haunted" Spaghetti Warehouse in downtown today. The second floor's supposed to be haunted, with stories of lightbulbs blowing out, and then mysteriously turning back on, table arrangements moving on their own, feeling a "presence", yada yada yada. Being the skeptic that I am, I wanted to check it out to see if anything REALLY happens at haunted places. Admittedly, I kinda WANTED something to happen, just so I'd have a story to tell. But I digress.
So I went off to have a lovely "haunted" dinner with my friend Linda and her other friend Alex. It was kinda creepy up on the 2nd floor, since it was closed and all the lights were out, but unfortunately there were no ghosts or eerie happenings to speak of. So we just ended up seeing a lot of cool antiques and having a good dinner. :) Pictures can be found here.

Wow. So I had this AWESOME organic chemistry professor back at UT. Seriously the greatest prof that I've ever had. The kind of professor that just about EVERYONE gives raving reviews for. You get the picture.
Anyway, there was some crazy story going around that a lot of people didn't get to take him for organic chemistry back when 9/11 hit, because apparently he's enough of a badass that he was called upon to do research on anthrax. I love the guy and all, but I thought this was one of those stories that was simply built to glorify this guy even more. Then I read the following in a newsletter for UT's College of Natural Sciences:
"Drs. Brent Iverson and George Georgiou developed an anthrax antibody that operates as an effective antidote against anthrax infection. The antibody is licensed to Elusys, Inc."HOLY shit. This guy's already cool enough as it is. As in he's one of those professors who will stand out 10 years later when you're remembering your college days. But developing an antidote for anthrax? This dude's just been upgraded from "Badass" status to "Badass Muthaf*cka" status in my book.

You know what still bugs me after being in Texas for 10 years? The way Texans actually pronounce the "h" in the word
"vehicle".
Just sayin'. :P
Oh, and Leanne and Johnny finished their lists of 100 happy things! Go check 'em out. :)

Hear ye, hear ye, another list of 100 happy things has been submitted! Check out Linda's list. I especially love numbers 19, 34, and 92. :)
Spring break's over. And I'm feeling surprisingly mellow. I'll go into full-blown freakout mode soon enough, but in the meantime, I'm gonna enjoy the calm before the storm. :P

Woohoo! Someone else has completed their list of 100 things that make them happy. My friend Priscilla has her list posted here. I found it sweet that most of her items involved either her husband or her daughter. :) That ups my count to 4 people so far (even if some of them are incomplete):
Johnny - I like numbers 32 and 57. *poke*...you need to finish this!
Katie C. - I love number 19. And you need to finish yours too!
Priscilla - haha, I'm actually listed on here! Woohoo! (see #35)
Tam - numbers 3-5 rock. and #90 is just pure awesomeness. :)
Share the love, people. :)
[EDIT]: Vinita sent in her list too! See it here. I personally like numbers 18, 39, and 80. :)

List of 100 things that make me happy status: COMPLETED!!
The list has been posted here, and on the sidebar as well. And I've also crossed it off of my life to-do list! Of course, I still welcome other people's lists. I kind of want to get at least 10 other people's lists, just so I can say that I've got a compilation of 1000 things that make people happy. So send 'em in! Either post it on your blog and send me a link, or if you don't have a blog, just e-mail your list (writetocindy [at] gmail [dot] com) and I'll make a separate webpage for you (like I did for Tam). Start writin', folks! :)

Holy crap, it's Spring Break! Too bad it won't last long. *sigh*
Anyway....so I went to the Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show with some friends yesterday. Let's just say that you never REALLY understand the magnitude of the term "hung like a horse" until you've seen the real thing. Needless to say, it was kind of um...intimidating.
Aaaaand....I've made some good progress on my list of 100 things that make me happy! I'm up to 91 items, and I've managed to get 3 or 4 other people joining me on this. I'll definitely post it once I'm done. C'mon people....more of you punks need to join me in this. It's kinda therapeutic. :)

So I went to the Coldplay/Fiona Apple concert last night. And like OMGWTF IT WAS GOOD. I'd put more details, but everyone knows that words can't do a good show justice. So I'll have to let everyone use their imaginations. Gwahahaha.
In other news, I've just added two more things to my life to-do list!

Holy crap, it's finally COLD here in Houston. Too bad it probably won't last long.
You know what's cool? Having not one, but TWO of your friends give you chapstick in one day. I lost my chapstick over winter break, and I kept on bumming off of everyone else's. So one day, my friends Irene and Priscilla both presented me with a brand new stick to moisten my luscious lips with. Thanks guys! :)
You know what's not cool? Having not one, but TWO exams in one week. Along with all the other quizzes, labs, and crap that I usually have to deal with. Let's just hope I didn't bomb any of those exams. I've already bombed one this semester, and I don't need any more to add to the list.
So other than the usual, life's been kinda tedious lately. School, study, sleep, repeat. So I'm asking everyone who reads this to leave me an entertaining story. Or maybe to tell a joke. Just say SOMETHING to liven things up a bit, mmkay? :)

I can cross off another item on my life to-do list: wine tasting! It was definitely a lovely experience...I was expecting it to be full of snooty, pretentious old people, but the place that I went to was very informal, and the people there were very friendly. And being the wine novice that I am, I was asking all sorts of stupid questions ("What's the difference between all these wines?" ..."So I always hear about wines cost 300 bucks a bottle...WHY??") After trying 12 different wines (yes, twelve!) my favorite of the night was the Mulderbosch Sauvignon Blanc. The best part? It was all FREEEEE. Shameless plug: free wine tastings every Friday from 5-7 at Houston Wine Merchant. :)

So I'm sitting here in my computer lab class, and I'm TOTALLY not paying attention right now. And in the process of being unproductive, I found this:

Bwahaha, the mental image of this makes me smile. *grin* On the other hand, I'm just hoping this isn't how the avian flu is being spread. :P

This is yet another exhibit of how clueless I am when it comes to sports. Everyone on my AIM buddy list seemed to have "XL" written for their away message. Meanwhile, I'm scanning through these messages thinking "Extra large? Extra large what? And why is EVERYONE talking about this 'extra large' thing?" It took me a few minutes to realize they were referring to the 40th Superbowl. I swear sometimes I know so little about football that I should revoke my title as a Texan.

Does anyone else think this is ridiculous? There's a simple solution to this one: TURN YOUR FREAKIN' VOLUME DOWN. I'd put it up there on the list of stupid lawsuits, along with the two girls who tried suing McDonald's because they said it was making them fat. If you're gonna try to sue Apple for hearing loss, you might as well sue lawnmower-making companies while you're at it too. Geez.

So um...I got to be the judge of an ass contest today. My two friends were arguing who had the better ass...here's the scenario:
I walk into the student lounge for lunch, and my two friends Timmy and Alden call me over.
Me: What's up guys?
Timmy and Alden: Cindy, we need you to do us a favor.
Me: Ok, what?
Timmy and Alden: We want you to cup our asses.
Me: You want me to do WHAT??
Timmy: You know, grab my asscheek, and then grab Alden's
Me: Uhh...why?
Timmy: We wanna see who has a nicer ass, but we need someone to judge.
Cindy: And why are you guys debating this in the first place?
Alden: C'mon, just do it.
Me: *thinks for a while*....*rolls up sleeves*....alright, let's go.
And that, my friends, is how I managed to grab two asses in one day. Oh yeah. I'm pimpin'.
And if you're wondering, Timmy had the better ass. :P
EDIT: A little protest from Alden:
Da Furious Racer: haha i want a regrab
Da Furious Racer: i think timmy was flexing!

Raise your hand. Now wave your hand a little. Now put it back down.
Was that so hard??
One thing that bugs me about Houston drivers is that no one seems to know what the "friendly wave" is. I don't believe that people should be grovelling at my feet with gratitude or anything, but when I'm nice enough to hold up my entire lane to let a car cut through, you'd figure that they'd show SOME sort of acknowledgement. Hmph...jerks. A little wave goes a long way. Sometimes even the bastard who haphazardly swerves in front of me can be forgiven if they just give "the wave". Anywho, I guess all I wanted to say is please be nice to the people who are nice to you too. All it takes is a little wiggle in the wrist, 'kay?

Anywhooo...I met up with a friend that I hadn't seen in over a year to play some catch-up. While we were talking, she mentioned that her favorite Disney movie of all time was The Little Mermaid. Then I started thinking about my favorite Disney princesses, and I'd have to claim Belle from Beauty and the Beast as mine. Why?
