Boy do I have a lot to blog about. Being home was great. ^_^ Now I'm back in Austin with a load of finals ready to stab me repeatedly with sporks. Yuck.
Wednesday
Arrived in Houston. Showered without having to wear flip-flops. W00t!
Thursday
Thanksgiving Day. Ate a HUGE load of food. Need I say more?
Friday
Woke up around 10 to go visit my grandma's grave with my family. It's hard to believe that it's already been 3 years...I kind of regret the fact that I was never really close to her, but I know I can't do anything about it now. I wandered around the cemetery and noticed that there were a lot of graves for people who passed away in their late 20s or early 30s. It made me think about how short life can be, and what kind of twists fate can bring to us. It's sad to think that people's lives can be cut so short, but it let me appreciate life a lot more.
But anywho....breaking out of that sort of depressing stuff...after visiting my grandma's grave, I stuffed myself at a Vietnamese seafood restaurant in Chinatown. I'll have to say again that the greatest thing about Houston is the food. ^_^ After lunch, we went home, and I just bummed around for a while. Then I did some more of my bio review. And then I bummed again. I suddenly remembered that I wanted my old jade necklace back, so I asked my mom for it. Then she offers me this other jade necklace on a gold chain that was a lot prettier than my old one. I was pretty torn between which one I wanted to wear....the one on the gold chain was prettier and looked better on me, but I was still really attached to the other one because I wore it for 7 years straight. I ended up wearing the one on the gold chain and carried my old necklace in my pocket. Anywho....then I waited around until I could go shopping with my mom. Called Deran to check up on plans for Saturday....Deran asks what I'm doing that night. I tell him I'm going shopping. Deran makes the sudden decision to drive all the way to Sugar Land to take me shopping. I agree. ^_^ Before we went shopping, my mom made her signature bulgogi.....right now I'm kicking myself for not packing some of that up to bring to Austin. Wahaha, that's the greatest thing about having a Chinese mom who grew up in Korea....she cooks both Chinese and Korean food....and she's damn good at it too. I should call her Iron Chef Mommy. XD
Saturday
Got a haircut. Then I went to eat dim sum with Colin, Deran, Marsha, and Yi Lin. Good stuff. ^_^ After dim sum, we went out for pearl milk tea and took a trip to the chinese supermarket as well. I had one 5 dollar bill left in my wallet. And guess what I spent it on? 10 boxes of Pocky. XD Blargh....so after buying the Pocky, I was out of cash for the day. :P Anywho....after that we went to Colin's house to make kim. However, SOME people went a little overboard with the salt on the kim. But other than that, it was good. Oh...and I never realized that seaweed could be so flammable. O_o;; The greatest part about making kim was hearing Colin scream like a girl whenever his kim caught fire while he was roasting it. XD Now if only he did that more often while he was playing Counterstrike....*rubs hands in an evil manner* XD But I digress. Anywho, so after all that, everyone went home. While Deran was driving me back, we were looking for places to eat, when I started talking about Rice Village. That sparked his curiosity enough that he decided that we should go there to eat and look around. So we went...we ate Japanese food at this restaurant called Kubo's. We ordered udon and salmon sushi/sashimi. Very yummy. ^_^ And we were served by a very Japanese waitress named Sachiko. Anywho, so after dinner, we wandered around some shops, then we stopped at Starbucks to order some drinks. Went home after Starbucks. Great day overall. ^_^
Sunday
Visited my old chinese school in the morning. Then I met Deran at Sinh Sinh for lunch and said bye-bye to my mommy. :( Went to Deran's house, hung around until Leanne arrived, and then we all departed for Austin. Arrived in Austin, collected any Thanksgiving leftovers in Leanne's room, heated them up, and had an in-dorm after-Thanksgiving feast. Yum. ^_^
*Whew*....and now it brings me to today. After having a great weekend with good family, good food, and good friends, I'm back in Austin with a load of finals ready to kill me. >_< Blargh. Anywho, time to get crackin' for my history final on Friday. Oy vey. >_<

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! ^_^ Take this day to count your blessings, remember to help those that are less fortunate, and stuff yourselves until you bust. :P
But anywho....I'm home! ^_^ As much as I love Austin, one thing I've missed about Houston is the FOOD. It's the fat capital of America for a reason, folks. When the roads are swarming with fast food joints and good restaurants, it's impossible for residents of Houston to not gain at least 15 pounds within the first year of living here. :P
Lessee....I'll have to admit that I've kinda missed driving too. I was never very fond of driving in the first place, but after going 3 months without driving, you start to feel kind of.....immobile. :P Blah....I don't think I'd miss driving at all if I lived in a place like NYC or something, but Austin isn't exactly the most packed city in the world.....so I can't help but feel a little helpless whenever I want to go somewhere far from the UT campus. :P
Blargh...my eyes have been really irritated lately. >_< I'm not sure what's wrong, but I'm hoping that it'll blow over soon.....I don't particularly enjoy having my eyes itch and water up. -_- Yuck. >_<
But anywho.....I'm going to take this weekend to eat, sleep, relax and forget the fact that I've got a bio exam ready to smack me in the face as soon as I get back to school. ^ ^;; Have a great turkey day, everyone! ^_^

EDIT: Bryan didn't eat 62 wings, he ate 72. I think the rest of the guys that were there need to bow down to him.
Whoa....I topped my chicken wing eating record from the last time I went to Plucker's....went from 21 to 23. Blah...so it's only a 2 wing difference, but I still topped my record nonetheless! Sadly, Deran has lost his title of "Garbage Disposal A". Just when we thought his stomach was a bottomless pit, Julie beat him out!! Deran ate 35, Julie ate 37...I'm sure Deran's moping around in shame right now. :P It's insane to think how much some of the guys ate...Yi Lin ate 57, and Bryan ate 62....I don't think either one of them will be eating chicken for a while. :P
Hahaha, this French ad is sooooo wrong, but it's funny in its own way....and it looks totally harmless at first glance too. XD
But anywho....*sob*.....my ring broke off!!! I have this jade ring that I've worn for years....and it broke off while I was at Plucker's. ;_; Blargh...it was bound to happen sometime or another, but things are going to be weird now that I've got naked fingers. :P *Sigh*....c'est la vie. :P

Today's weather: high is at 53 degrees Fahrenheit, low is at 44. That's perfect for pulling on my fuzzy red fleece sweatshirt. Fuzzy = Good. *niko* ^_^
Anywho....I've had a good day so far. Went to bed early last night, so I woke up feeling refreshed. Sat down and ate a nicely toasted parmesan bagel this morning instead of grabbing a donut and running off to class. And Cocky Bastard remained silent today in both history and philosophy! W00t! Now I'm just taking it easy, sipping a strawberry smoothie and doing a bit of bio homework before I go on a late night run to Plucker's tonight. Life is good. ^_^

Boy...what a weekend. Too much to blog about in detail, so you'll just have to bear with a list format. :P
Friday
• My glitter demon no longer haunts my closet. In other words, I sent my date auction dress back to the mall. I'm sure you're all mourning for it.
• Played around at the Discovery Channel store. Dork status raised by 17%. XD
• Broke out of my usual (limited) color spectrum in clothing. Bought 2 shirts at Express, one purple, the other pale yellow. Those and a fuzzy red fleece shirt from the Gap. Fuzzy = Good. *niko* ^_^
• Gawked at the insanely huge bowl of spaghetti Deran ordered at Carraba's.
• Gawked even more when Deran finished the bowl of spaghetti.
• Watched Fantasia 2000 on Deran's computer. Gotta love Disney. ^_^
• Played some mahjong. Lost horribly.
• Had an overall good time. ^_^
Saturday
• Did laundry...I was irked when I found washing machines that were done with the washing, but people had neglected to come back and take their clothes out. Went back to room to wait a while to go check again.
• Went back to laundry room approx 30 mins later...the same load of already-washed clothing is still in the washers. I decide to give in and just take the wet laundry out and stick my own stuff in.
• Come back to take out washed laundry. Discover no open dryers. Very irked.
• Come back later to check for open dryers. Find 2 open dryers. Discover that the 2 open dryers don't work. Wet laundry is still sitting in hamper. Yuck.
• Got fed up with running back and forth to check on the machines. Grabbed bio hw, cell phone, and a box of sushi. Camped out in the laundry room so I wouldn't miss any open dryers.
• Finally finished laundry after what seemed like eons. Time to head for TASA hotpot.
• TASA hotpot. Good food, good fun. But I ended up missing out on BOTH batches of green onion pie!! Argh....oh well, at least I've learned how to make that stuff from Chef Leanne.
• Things were getting loud in the house. So I went outside and climbed a tree with Deran. Sitting in a tree was nice until this cat climbed up the tree...that's when I started getting nervous and hoped that the cat wouldn't jump onto the same branch we were sitting on. Bleh...I wouldn't mind cats so much if I weren't allergic to them. ^ ^;;
• People started drinking and dancing to loud music. Hotpot not so fun anymore. I wanted to go home once people brought out the alcohol. :( I wish I could have fun like everyone else was with the dancing and stuff, but it's just not my cup of tea. But aside from that, things were good.
Anywho, I've had a good weekend overall. Had a lot of fun, got some work done....and I'm going home this week for Thanksgiving! W00t! Anywho, I'm gonna chow down on some Ben and Jerry's ice cream....yum. ^_^

I hung on for dear life. My grip tightened as I felt myself falling. The weight that I bore only brought me closer to my fate. I tightened my grip one last time in hopes that I might be able to save myself. My hands failed, and I fell to my doom.
Haha, well, actually, DERAN would be the one that failed. Deran was doing some bio studying while I did some history reading, and then we got to discussing dinner plans. Later Leanne IM-ed us telling us that everyone would be eating dinner over at Jester's 2nd floor cafeteria.
Deran: Bleh....I don't want to carry my bio book to Jester
Me: *points to my own bio book*...don't complain to me...I've been lugging mine around all day
Deran: I'll carry you
Me: O_o;;
Me: Seriously? Book bag, bio book and all? O_o;;
Deran: Sure....I'll carry you over to Jester, AND up the stairs to the 2nd floor!
Me: You're on... XD
So later we left for dinner, and he carried me....things were going well, but after a while he had to put me down. Haha, at least I got my joy ride. XD
Wahahaha, but anywho, here's an interesting quiz for everyone. Here are the answers that I put down, if any of you people want to compare:
1) Short but boring path
2) 15 red, 5 white (although at first I was thinking about getting all 20 red)
3) Went to get him myself
4) Left them on the bed
5) He's asleep
6) Longer, more interesting road
Hehe, interesting stuff. ^_^
Lessee....oh yes, I played Kingdom Hearts today! I'll have to admit that it was a bit slow, but that's because it's the beginning of the game, so I was playing in that tutorial stage that all RPG's go through. But I will say that the graphics are mega sw33t, and that Donald Duck rocks. XD
You ever shell out money for the stupidest reasons? I bought a bottle of Wild Citrus Mad River for .05 from the vending machine instead of buying it at the store for .69. Why? Because I was curious to know how a vending machine is going to vend drinks that come in glass bottles. It can't possibly just let the glass bottles plummet to the bottom of the machine....that'd be a lawsuit in the making. So I forked over .05 to see how it'd work....and it was cooooool!!! This tray would come up to the row that the drink was in, and then the bottle would be pushed out onto this conveyor belt thingie on the tray, and then the tray would move to the row where the dispenser was, and then the conveyor belt thingie would move and the drink would be scooched over and dropped into the dispenser, where you'd stick your hand in and grab your drink. *Whew*....ok, so maybe it wasn't a good idea to describe that in words, but....it was cool!! Blargh....I probably won't buy a drink from that vending machine again, but I'd definitely stand around and watch if any of my friends buy something from it. Boy am I a dork. :P

Youch.....that would be me bonking my head on the keyboard. >_< I'm extremely tired right now....but I'm enough of a dork/blog addict to post an entry. :P
So anywho, I went to dinner with Deran and Anthony at Madam Mam's today, and Anthony ordered the spiciest dish they had on the menu: catfish with a 5-pepper rating. Keep in mind that Madam Mam's is a Thai restaraunt...so when they say spicy, they mean burn-a-freakin'-hole-in-your-esophagus spicy. :P Let's just say Anthony was sweating after a while. :P
So after dinner, Deran and I were walking back to his dorm, when we saw a massive number of people whacking each other with pillows out in this patch of grass in front of the UT clock tower.
Me and Deran: O_o??
Deran: I'm tempted to go over and ask what the hell is going on...
Me: I'm tempted to go over and join them...
Both of us: *start scurrying over to where all the flying pillows are*
Anywho, once we got there, these people shoved pillows into our arms (I got a big red body pillow and Deran got kind of a sack pillow), and we just went in and start smacking the hell out of people. Then we traded pillows. And then we smacked some more. And all I can say is that it was MAD FUN. Turns out that these people have this massive pillow fight every Wednesday night at 7 pm.....I'm thinking about bringing up any old junky pillow from home after Thanksgiving just so I can use it to smack people without worrying about it getting dirty. *big grin*
Anywho.....I'm dead tired. Sleep is good. G'nite!

Well well....now that the cat's out of the bag
, I guess it's time that I've blogged about it.
Name: Deran Wong
Description: 5'11. Intelligent. Watches anime. Eats like nobody's business
regardless of his skinny appearance. Dorky in his own endearing way. Loves sushi. Knows all the words to Utada Hikaru's "First Love" and "Distance" by heart. Says that I peel my bananas from the "wrong" end. Used to scrunch his nose whenever he said the number 3 in Mandarin. Makes fun of my last name when it's essentially the same as his own. Can kick anyone's ass in Dr. Mario. Shares my knowledge of stereotypical anime facial expressions
. Can make me laugh simply by saying "duck" in Cantonese. Makes a great heating pad (nyahaha). Appreciates music. An amazing piano player. Has a deep, soothing voice that could put me to sleep even if he read out of the phone directory. Has amazing eyes. Can make me smile in more ways than I can say.
Relation to me: Object of my affection

Whoa.....change in plans here. So I've been aiming for exemption from my chem final so that I won't have to take 2 finals in one day. However, I just remembered that yesterday my bio prof told us that if we're happy with the average of our first 3 exams, we don't need to show up for the final. We've had 2 exams in bio so far.....if I do well on the third, then there's no final for me to take! Sooooo.....if I 1) get exemption from my chem final and 2) do well enough on my next bio exam to average things out to an A, that means I'll have NO finals to take on Dec. 17th. And that also means that I'll be able to go home a day early for Christmas break!! Now THAT'S sw33tness. It's time to get crackin'. *eyes narrow*

*Gasp*.....I just figured out that you can get extra credit multiple times by correcting mistakes of any sort in Dr. Laude's course notes. He's got mistakes on almost every page, whether it be spelling, grammar, or pure calculuation screw-ups. Exemption from that chem final may not be entirely impossible....LET THE POINT-WHORING BEGIN!!!!
At any rate, I've got a bio exam today. Gonna grab some lunch and then do some last minute review. :P
